How to Convert a Word Document to PDF

In order to send a letter that you prepared as a Word document, you would first need to convert it to a PDF. Luckily, you can do that in few easy steps.

Below we provide the steps needed to convert a Word document using Microsoft Word or Google Docs, on a Windows or Mac OS.

On Mac OS

  1. Open the Word document in Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on File > Save As.
  3. Under the File Format, choose PDF.
  4. Choose the location where you want to store the file and click Save.

On Windows

  1. Open the Word document in Microsoft Word.
  2. Click on File > Save As.
  3. Under the Save as type, choose PDF (*.pdf).
  4. Choose the location where you want to store the file and click Save.

Using Google Docs

If you do not have Microsoft Word installed, you can use Google Docs in order for convert your Word document into PDF. Please note however that opening the document with Google Docs may lose some formatting.

  1. Go to your Google Drive.
  2. Upload the Word document from your computer to your Google Drive. This can be done with a drag and drop into the Google Drive website.
  3. Once the file is uploaded to Google Drive, it will be listed under your drive. Click on the file and the document will be opened in Google Docs.
  4. Once it is opened, check if everything looks as you would expect. Then click on File > Download > PDF Document (.pdf).
  5. You will be prompted to download the file.
